The Bureau of Immigration (BI) revealed that some 40 Filipinos a few of which are Bangkok bound get offloaded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal-1 each day for various reasons.
Aside from passengers bound for Bangkok, most of these passengers who are getting offloaded are bound for Dubai, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore which are considered transit points accounting for high incidents of human trafficking.
In an interview with GMA 7 news program “24 Oras”, NAIA Immigration Officer Dennis Opiña, said that Dubai is the most common destination of Filipinos who want to illegally work overseas.
Immigration spokesperson Angelica Pedro added that “inconsistencies” in the travel plan is also one of the reasons for a traveler being offloaded.
The report also advised the passengers to show proof that he or she will return to the country to avoid being offloaded. Showing company IDs for employees or trade registration documents for businessmen could be a big help.
