Pinoy runners dominate 21k marathon in Phuket, Richard Salaño tops
Filipino runners dominated the 21K men’s marathon at the 11th Laguna Phuket International Marathon on June 5, 2016. Pinoy athletes notched three places in the top 5.
Richard Salaño, 24 and a native of Loma De Gato, Marilao in Bulacan won the half-marathon out of 152 runners from different countries. His total running time is 01:15:18.4.
Prior to winning in Phuket, Salaño had joined big marathon events in the Philippines such as SM to SM in Cebu, Seven Eleven Run and Natgeo Run where he also bagged gold, said Salaño in an online interview with PinoyThaiyo.
Salaño was also named UAAP MVP for his athletic skills when he was in college.
Other Filipino winners at the 21K half-marathon were Gregg Vincent Osorio who bagged 3rd with total time of 01:19:05.9 and Mark Anthony Oximar on the fourth place with 01:20:23.3 running time.
Salaño’s group was sponsored by Seven Eleven Philippines while Skechers Philippines served as his individual sponsor.
