China donates P15M worth of rehabilitation for Marawi recovery

The Marawi siege has severely damaged the city, with the building’s physical structures torn apart and its residence in a state of shock. With the apparent destruction of property, the Chinese government, through Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua, has turned over P15 million for the recovery and rehabilitation of the city, Tuesday, June 27 at the Malacanang Palace.

The said aid is expected to “significantly augment the resources of the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD),” according to a Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) press release.

Both the DOH and DSWD have been leading in the relief operations in Marawi City, including medical assistance and distribution of supplies to the affected residences.

China is now one of the countries who has expressed support against terrorist attacks, specifically in Marawi City and has attended the needs of displaced civilians caught in the crossfire.

China is expected to turn over more donations this week, including military assistance as reported by Rappler.
