Western Union will serve as the major sponsor of the 1st Association of Filipinos in Thailand Basketball League ( AFTBL) as it shows support once again to the Filipino community. Big companies like Central Department Store and Thailand Post have also joined together in sponsoring the tournament which is composed of 14 all-Filipino teams.
The three- month event will run from February 14 until April 17 at Ramkhamhaeng University Sports Office. Opening program will be on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
Executives from the said companies will grace the opening salvo alongside with embassy officials and AFT officers. Mr. Atish Shrestha, Regional Director, Indochina – Western Union; Ms. Arunsri Kampirom, Marketing Department Manager, Financial Product Development Department, Central Department Store; Mr. Pongtorn Wi-sed-su-wan, Vice President, Finance and Retail Market Department, Thailand Post Co., Ltd will be present to witness the opening and first day of the tournament.
Western Union has been continuously supporting Filipino communities in Thailand. Last December, the company also served as one of the major sponsors at the annual “Paskong Pinoy” celebration at the Philippine Embassy Grounds in Bangkok.
The world’s largest money transfer program will lead some games to entertain the players and basketball fans. Freebies and other mementos will also be given away.
Meanwhile, one of Western Union promotions includes sending money to the Philippines for as low as 229 THB for every transaction of not more than 50,000 THB. It will run until the end of March in Bangkok, Chonburi and Phuket.
The first 100 persons of the day will win a free Western Union umbrella. One customer is entitled to receive one umbrella per day only.
