Thailand’s most popular holiday, the Songkran Festival will be held on April 11-15, 2020.
Songkran is a world renowned holiday. Last year, there were more than 500k international arrivals to the kingdom most of whom are holiday revelers.
Earlier this month an idea of a nine day holiday over the Songkran festival this year to promote domestic tourism came up following a sharp decline in tourist arrivals. However, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha shut down the idea and it was not raised for discussion in yesterday’s cabinet meeting.
The Prime Minister said today that he personally does not agree with the idea because he doesn’t think it will help promote tourism and the five day holiday, from April 11th to April 15th, is long enough for the celebrations, reported Thai PBS.
