Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on Wednesday, January 20, visited Leyte Province in the Philippines to turn over the classrooms donated by Thailand for those affected by Typhoon Yolanda in 2014.
The Thai princess also visited different places such as the Sto. Niño Church in Tacloban City and the MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park in Palo, Leyte, said ABS-CBN in a news report.
Princess Sirindhorn is the third child of Their Majesties King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit. She is well-loved by Thai people for her kindness, generosity and patronage of culture and the arts which focus on education, children, and disaster relief. Thais commonly refer to her by reducing such title to “Phra Thep”, meaning “princess angel”. Her position is comparable to a princess royal.
The princess was also entertained by the Enchanting Palo Brass Band. The members of the band said the princess liked their performance since she also likes playing musical instruments, the report added.
Beforehand, Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn paid a courtesy call on President Benigno Aquino III in Malacañang on Monday. The two exchanged pleasantries during a brief and simple ceremony at the Palace. A dinner hosted by presidential sisters Maria Elena “Ballsy” Aquino-Cruz and Aurora Corazon “Pinky” Aquino-Abellada also took place in honor of the Thai Princess.
