5 Thai returnees found positive in state quarantine

The government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration reported five new cases over a 24-hour period today, August 25, the 92nd day without any domestic case since May.

All new cases are asymptomatic. They comprise a 26-year-old Thai woman who returned from Oman, a 47-year-old spa employee who came home from Turkey, a male student, 27, and a woman, 20, who returned from Indonesia, and a 46-year-old male freelance worker who came home from the US.

Meanwhile, seven patients were discharged and have returned home.

As of today, the number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 3,402 (465 found in state quarantine). Of these, 115 are under treatment, 3,229 have recovered and been discharged and 58 have died.

Globally, the number of confirmed cases has increased to 23.8 million, up by 225,000 in 24 hours, with 16.3 million recovering and 818,000 dying. Thailand ranks 119th for most cases in the world. The US has the highest number (5.91 million), followed by Brazil (3.6 million) and India (3.1 million).
