DFA to shoulder Sagubay’s repatriation expenses, wife and kids’ one-way tickets

The Department of Foreign Affairs will shoulder Kenneth Chaplen Sagubay’s repatriation expenses from Thailand to the Philippines as well as plane tickets of his wife and two kids in Bangkok. Sagubay died in a fatal motorcycle accident in Pattaya on April 9, 2017.

This new development has been confirmed by DFA Director Raul Dadu on 8 TriMedia’s Serbisyo Publiko program on Thursday morning. Dadu was interviewed on-air by “Aksyon Lady” Kaye Dacer.

Dadu explained that the document is now in the office of Undersecretary Jesus Yabes and it might be signed within the day. He added that DFA is also in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok.

On Wednesday, Sanlight Sagubay, the sister of Kenneth Sagubay, expressed her deep frustrations over the alleged “inconsideration” of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Manila on her Facebook account.

The post contains the photo of Leonard Kent, one of Kenneth’s children, and a short narration of Kenneth’s wife, who is 5-month pregnant, who both visited the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok to discuss the process of repatriating his remains.

Meanwhile, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac in an email also assured that his agency will work on Sagubay’s case.

Aside from Dacer, “Kakampi” Bernard Tan, Hannah Seneres of OFW Family Club and Nelly Palpallatoc of OFW Quickservant United for Duterte who followed up Sagubay’s case, PinoyThaiyo also made an online appeal tagging DFA, OWWA, and all concerned offices requesting a quick action on Sagubay’s repatriation.
