A series of earthquakes in Pai district was recorded by the Seismological Bureau of Thailand between January 19 and January 20, as reported by the Mae Hong Son Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office.
A magnitude 2.8 with a depth of 4 km struck Wiang Nuea sub district at 9:05 pm on January 19. Subsequent tremors ranging from 1.8 to 3.4 magnitude with depths of 1 km were also recorded.
Although residents in the area reported feeling the temblors, no damage or injuries have been reported so far. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local agencies to ensure public safety and assess any potential impact, as reported by the National News Bureau of Thailand.
Local administrative organizations, village heads and community leaders were instructed to update residents on the situation and share safety procedures. Public awareness efforts are underway to manage concerns and instill preparedness.
An on-going damage assessment in the affected areas and reporting of findings for evaluation is ongoing in the area.
