Thailand is set to spend around 153 million baht for the Thai New Year festivities, which it hopes to generate more than 3 billion baht from tourist spending.
According to a Bangkok Post, the Prime Minister has greenlit the Tourism and Sports Ministry to use the money from central coffers to organize Songkran events in Bangkok in April, said the cabinet.
The Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2025 will be held from April 11-15 at Sanam Luang, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
The cabinet expects around 800,000 local and foreign tourists with a possible spending of 3.2 billion baht.
