Philippine Embassy in Thailand Successfully Holds Independence Day Commemoration

The Philippine Embassy in Thailand (PE) commemorated the 127th Philippine Independence at the Siam Kempinski Hotel in Bangkok, last June 12, with the theme: “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” (Freedom, Future, History).

This celebration is to “honor the country’s forefathers, who fought for the freedom of the Philippines, and the everyday Filipino heroes who continue to shape the nation’s path toward a brighter future.”

In a Facebook post, Philippine Ambassador to Thailand H.E Millicent Cruz Paredes opened the reception emphasizing that “nation-building is not a task confined to the past, but a continuing journey that every Filipino should contribute to”.

The occasion was graced by senior Thai government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and UN officials, Thai guests, business leaders and prominent members of the Filipino community.

H.E Lalivan Karnchanachari, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand was the night’s Guest of Honor with the representative of the Foreign Minister of Thailand.

The night featured the rich Filipino cultural heritage, including in music, dance and visual arts.

Also present to showcase world-class Filipino talent were soprano duo, The Nightingales, accompanied by violinist Bryan Cimafranca, Voyz Hymns, Venice Valdez with saxophonist Narinat Pakinara and select Filipino teachers who performed traditional Filipino dances such as tinikling, maglalatik, and sayaw sa bangko.

A section in the reception hall turned into an art gallery as pieces curated by ArtShow Philippines were on display.

Guests were treated to an aray of authentic Filipino dishes including staples like the chicken inasal, adobo, crispy lumpia, halo-halo, kakanin, taho and many more.
