“AI-Generated” Bank Slips Flood Social Media

AI manipulated bank transaction slips are saturating social media as a netizen shared her experience of being scammed.

In an Inquirer News article, the viral Facebook post warns the public to be vigilant when doing online transactions. Her story began when her batchmate, who owes her money, sent bank transaction slips, proving that she has paid back her debt obligation.

“After ko mag-out of the country and inaudit ko, walang pumasok. One failed transaction is pwede pa pero 5 transactions? No!”, said the netizen. The said netizen knew the sender and was confident not to verify the payment immediately.

“Mali ko is di ko nacheck right away…dapat chineck ko mabuti. Nasa galaan kasi ako niyan, pawala wala pa signal saka kakilala ko yung nagsend so tiwala pa ako.”

The netizen eventually was shocked to discover that there indeed was really no online payments made and the bank slips were only generated through AI model ChatGPT. She also said that the person who sent her the AI-generated bank slips had done the same thing to other classmates who she owed money to.

A quick ChatGPT prompt using “create a copy of the picture like this with a 25,000 PHP transaction” will generate a very genuine looking slip close to real transaction slips generated by legit mobile banking apps.

“Mag-Ingat kayo, always check if pumasok ba sa account nyo yung transaction”, urged by the viral post.

The post has already garnered 37,000 reactions with 50,000 comments.
