Buy a t-shirt with customized Pinoy-inspired design for 300 baht to help Tatay Floro and Nanay Liza. Fifty percent of the total sale or 150THB of each sold t-shirt will be donated to the elderly Filipino couple in Koh Chang.
Mr. Floro and Mrs. Liza Tizon, 65 and 57 respectively are both musicians who used to sing in bars and restaurants on the island of Koh Chang in Trat Province. The couple who have been living in Thailand since 1980s are now stricken with poor health and in financial crisis.
The elderly couple’s only wish is to be able to go back home in Samar, Philippines.
Several Filipino Facebook groups in Thailand, community leaders and fellow musicians in Koh Chang have organized the “Buy for a Cause” fundraising drive to at least lessen the medical bills, overdue house rentals, visa and other expenses of the couple. Their air tickets will be given by the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok.
Aside from t-shirts, you can also buy bags with customized jeepney design costing from 150 to 200 baht each.
To avail, you can arrange a meet up at any BTS station from Prakanong to Bangna or via EMS. Additional 30 EMS delivery fee will be added if within Bangkok while 60 baht if you live in the province.
Both t-shirts and bags are printed by Mr. & Mrs. Maximino Castillo while distribution and selling is being led by Ms. Jane Cabaya of Kababayan at Kapamilya sa Thailand, Ms. Emily Fabe of SWD Kapamilya and Mr. Rhey Keen of Pinoy Tayo Thailand. Leading a group of musicians in the fundraising campain is Mr. Edilberto Asuncion.
Kudos to our kindhearted and generous kababayans for coming up with this idea!
