The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) has announced that people in Bangkok may “witness the celestial phenomenon known as Zero Shadow Day at 12:16 PM on April 27.
In a The Nation article, No Shadow Day is when the subsolar point refers to the location on Earth where the Sun is positioned directly overhead, with its rays striking the surface at 90-degree angle. In short, vertical objects cast no shadow.
However, many Bangkok residents may not be able to observe this event as the Meteorological Department predicts cloud cover and possible thunderstorms from surrounding provinces on that day.
During this Zero Shadow Day however, the Meteorological Department does not expect peak temperatures. Forecasts suggest that it will be from 33 to 36 degrees Celsius due to cloud formations.
