Bomb blasts at Phramongkutklao Hospital injures 21

A bomb explosion at Phramongkutklao Hospital in Bangkok has left 21 people injured, said Thai police. No foreign national was injured in the blast on May 22, 2017.

The blast went off at 10am on Monday in the dispensary’s waiting room for commissioned officers. The bomb was hidden in a container near the hospital’s pharmacy. It sparked panic and sent smoke into the corridors.

One elderly woman was seriously injured while most of the wounded were hit by flying glass.

“This is the worst ever bombing incident. Normally they do not attack a hospital, even at a time of war,” said Army Commander-in-Chief General Chalermchai Sitthisart.

The army chief also condemned the bomb blast as the worst ever explosion with an intention to kill or maim. He also asked members of the public to condemn the perpetrators and to provide information to the authorities if they have any help in tracking down the perpetrators.
