A new BTS station on Lad Phrao intersection station is scheduled to open for service on August 11, 2019. This is according to a press release on National News Bureau of Thailand.
With the cooperation of the BTS, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Krungthep Thanakom Co., the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand undertook the trial run over a two-kilometer distance from Mo Chit station to Lad Phrao intersection. The new BTS station is designed to alleviate overcrowding of commuters at Mo Chit station, reported NNBT.
Lad Phrao intersection is a major spot where many commuters converge to take BTS trips daily. About 80,000 BTS passengers are expected each day, it added.
Meanwhile, four more stations will open along the route from Mo Chit station to Kaset intersection by the end of this year. The northern route will also be extended to Khu Khot station by the end of next year.
BTS SkyTrain inaugurated on December 5, 1999. It was the first electric mass transit railway system to commence operations in Thailand.

Erratum: Our previous headline says Mo Chit to Saphan Mai. Only Lad Phrao Intersection station is opening in August.
