Supporters of Philippine President Rody Duterte, the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand and kind-hearted Filipino community members came to the aid of an ailing Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who has been diagnosed with skin cancer stage one in August 2016.
Jeovanie Alamban Cajote, who worked as an English teacher in Thailand, was finally able to fly back to the Philippines on Sunday evening, September 11, 2016 after getting generous help for his plane ticket. Ms. Lourdes J. Holmes who was tapped by Mr. Neil Amurao of the Embassy’s Assistance to Nationals (ATN) paid for the Cajote’s plane ticket.
OFW QuickservANTS United 4DU30, an organized OFW group supporting the advocacies of President Duterte also led the campaign to raise funds. The group was able to provide some financial assistance for Cajote’s medication while the officers accompanied the latter to the airport.
In a Facebook post, Cajote thanked everyone who extended help.
“Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Kung di sa inyong tulong di ko malalaman kung ano ang tunay kung sakit. Di ko kayo makakalimutan at sana magkikita parin tayong lahat kung pahintulutan ng maykapal na makabalik pa ako dito sa Thailand,” said Cajote.
OFW QuickservANTS United 4DU30 has also extended their appreciation to the Philippine Embassy in Thailand and to Ms. Holmes for providing their help.
Other Facebook group SWD Kapamilya II also took an active role in gathering funds for Cajote.
