Education Ministry prepares for upcoming school year

The Education Ministry and Bangkok authorities are now in the final stages of their preparations for the upcoming May 16 school year, with priorities on student’s well-being and digital learning.

In a The Nation report, Thailand’s Ministry of Education together with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) are gearing up for the start of the new academic year, with strong emphasis on safety measures and digital learning.

According to Education Minister Pol. Gen. Permpoon Chidchob, he has instructed every school to carefully check school buildings, electrical systems, and teaching resources. He also stressed out the importance of “actively seeking out and reintegrating students who have dropped out of education”, especially in remote areas.

The Ministry is also set to distribute around 600,000 tablet computers to upper secondary school students this second semester in order to boost digital learning. High speced devices are top priority and the second stage of public consultation is underway to ensure transparency on the procurement process.

Pissamai Ruengsil, BMA’s Director of Education, meanwhile has mandated that all schools must “conduct thorough safety audits”.

Included in such checks are installation and maintenance of CCTV systems, electrical installations, drinking water facilities, playground equipment, and the structural integrity of buildings.
