The Higher Education Ministry now has directed two educational institutions to take “disciplinary actions” against students involved in a recent brawl at the MBK Center in Bangkok last Saturday, March 22.
In a The Nation article, Supamas Isarabhakdi, the Higher Education Ministry Office’s Permanent Secretary has instructed to collaborate with executives from the Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok, Uthenthawi Campus and Pathumwan Institute of Technology to investigate their students and carry out disciplinary actions against the students involved.
The directive stems from an incident last Saturday, at around 7:15 PM of around 20 students that took place from the second to the fourth storeys of MBK Center. The incident injured 5 students and a security officer.
The Permanent Secretary will also discuss with relevant agencies to establish concrete and tangible measures to prevent such conflict among warring sides. The ministry will also collaborate with the Royal Thai Police to enhance security and increase police visibility in the area to deter such violence.
