Face mask wearing is compulsory at indoor and outdoor public spaces in Bangkok

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has issued an order requiring the people in the Bangkok Metropolis to wear hygienic masks or cloth masks correctly all the time when they leave their dwelling places.

The order was signed by Bangkok Governor Police General Aswin Kwanmuang and will be effect from 26 April 2021 until further notice. Violators will be guilty of an offence under the Communicable Disease Act B.E. 2558 (2015) and shall be liable to a fine of up to 20,000 baht.

The order came after BMA had issued Announcement No. 25 on 25 April 2021 regarding the temporary closure of certain places in Bangkok.

In the order, the Bangkok Governor stated that, because the number of COVID-19 infected persons had continued to increase, control and necessary measures must be implemented urgently, so that certain activities could be carried out under specific conditions.
