UPDATE: As soon as this news was posted, some individuals sent Pinoy Thaiyo an “update” regarding this story. Their side of the story is summarized on two things:
- That “Ms Brenda” is also a victim, not the scammer.
- That she already paid and settled the complaint.
For the sake of fairness, we include one of those messages here with permission.

A The Phuket News report has identified a certain “Ms. Brenda” was arrested by Phuket Immigration on February 14 for charges on “fraudulently deceiving others by presenting false information or concealing facts that should have been disclosed.”
The arrest was made on the same day while the suspect was attempting to extend her stay in Thailand in Phuket.
The alleged suspect was detained at the Visa Extension room at the Phuket Immigration Office in Phuket Town, the same report stated. Ms. Brenda, through the Immigration Bureau’s system, reveals that she has an active arrest warrant against her, issued under Criminal Court No. 1783/2563 on November 24, 2020.
Aside from her current charges, she is also charged with entering false information into a computer system in a manner that could cause public harm.
“The suspect was subsequently transferred to Chok Chai Police Station in Bangkok for further legal proceedings” as confirmed by Phuket Immigration.
