Three Filipino wrestlers are now in Bangkok to compete for the 2016 Senior Asian Championship (SAC) starting Wednesday, Feb 16, 2016 at Thai-Japan Bangkok Youth Center.
Francis Villanueva and Jhonny Morte who are both native of Zamboanga and female wrestler Minalyn Foy-os from Baguio are the Wrestling Association of the Philippines (WAP) delegates who will compete with 25 other countries from Asia. The trio will compete in free-style wrestling.
Foy-os will be the first to wrestle on Thursday. She is scheduled for a weigh-in today. The two men fighters’ schedule has not been released yet. The competition starts at 8:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m.
They are accompanied by WAP Secretary General Mr. Marcus Valda and the team’s coach Mr. Renerio Rapisora.
WAP is the governing sports organization for wrestling in the Philippines, and maintains the Philippines National Wrestling Team.
Thai-Japan Bangkok Youth Center or otherwise known as Thai-Japan Stadium, Dindaeng, is located on Mit Maitri Rd., Dindaeng, Dindaeng, Bangkok. It covers an area of approximately 73 rai.
