Former Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Head Hans Leo Cacdac has been appointed as the new administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) on Monday, October 3, 2016.
OWWA is an agency of the Department of Labor and Employment of the Philippines that protects the interests of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and their families, providing social security, cultural services and help with employment, remittances and legal matters.
In Facebook message announcing his new post, Cacdac expressed his desire of making OWWA closer to OFWs.
“Nais ko pong mas lalong maging malapit ang OWWA sa mga mahal nating OFWs”, he said.
“Sa may mga messages po sa akin, huwag po kayong mag-alala at sisikapin ko pong sagutin ang lahat ng inyong mga katanungan at mungkahi,” he added.
Before assuming the top post at the POEA in 2012, Cacdac was an undersecretary for labor relations at the Department of Labor and Employment.
He joined the DOLE in 2004 as executive director of the National Conciliation and Mediation Board and moved to the POEA as deputy administrator for licensing and adjudication in 2006.
