Four Filipinos still missing in Myanmar after deadly quake

Four Filipinos in Mandalay are still missing after the deadly 7.7 quake struck Myanmar and neighbouring countries Thailand, China and Vietnam.

In an ABS-CBN News report, according to Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Eduardo De Vega, two of the fours are a married couple and all four are working in the country. The families of two overseas Filipino workers in Mandalay, Alexis Gale Adalid and Edsil Jess Adalid, are pleading for help in search for the two while the DFA is still waiting for confirmation on the identity of the married couple.

The missing OFWs were residing at the Sky Villa condominium, one of the buildings that collapsed due to the earthquake.

The Philippine Embassy in Myanmar (Yangon) released a statement that it’s preparing to “deploy a team in Mandalay for on-the-ground assessment and direct welfare checks on Filipinos in the area.” It is also encouraged to continue to communicate among Filipino communities for everyone’s safety.
