Award-winning Filipino films “”Heneral Luna,” “Bonifacio,” and “K’na, the Dreamweaver” will be screened at the First Sentro Rizal Film Festival (SRFF) at Srinakharinwirot University in Bangkok on Friday, January 29, 2016.
SRFF 2016 is organized by the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Sentro Rizal Secretariat and in cooperation with Srinakharinwirot University. SRFF screenings are free.
The film screening will start at 10:30am-12:00nn for “K’na the Dreamweaver,” 2:00-4:00pm for “Bonifacio” and 6:00-8:00pm for “Heneral Luna”. Considered as one of the most expensive and highest-grossing Filipino films of all time, “Heneral Luna” is a 2015 Philippine historical biopic film depicting General Antonio Luna’s leadership of the Philippine Revolutionary Army during the Philippine-American War. It has received mostly positive reviews from film critics and historians alike.
Meanwhile, “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” is a 2014 Philippine historical action drama film centering on the life of Katipunan revolutionary Andres Bonifacio. The film won the most awards during the 40th Metro Manila Film Festival among the eight entries for the mainstream category of the film festival with nine awards including Best Picture.
“K’na, the Dreamweaver,” on the other hand, is a film that depicts a bittersweet love story among the T’boli tribe. It showcases breathtaking sceneries in Lake Sebu, the T’boli tribe’s traditions and T’nalak-inspired costumes.
In a post on its official Facebook page, the Embassy also invited the Filipino community to watch the screening of these nationalistic movies.
