High School students experience farming with IRRI Research Education

32 high school students from Maria Montessori Children’s School Foundation, Inc joined IRRI Education’s Rice Planting Experience (RPEx) program.

As posted on their Facebook page, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) has been holding excursion trips and experiential learning to outsiders in order to promote agriculture through rice planting activities. “This hands-on experience offered insight into rice farming and emphasized the impact youth can have on the future of agriculture”.

“IRRI Education supports initiatives that inspire young people to explore agriculture and its role in food security and sustainability,” the post concluded.

Aside from that, IRRI Education also has their Research to Production (RR2P) program where “participants not only immerse themselves in lectures and hands-on fieldwork, but also explore the Philippines’ agricultural landscape and rich culture.”
