Miss Grand International (MGI) has acquired the rights to host Miss Universe Thailand (MUT) for 5 years.
MGI CEO Nawat Itsaragrisil confirms this news as he posted a photo of him in front of the Miss Universe title on his Facebook page, Monday, captioning it with “MGI, the official copyright holder [of MUT].
In a The Nation post, the company has acquired the copyright for “organizing MUT pageant for the years 2025 to 2029”. MUT was formerly run by JKN Global Content, a registered company in Singapore, which is under the JKN Global Group.
This move to acquire the MUT rights is said to be MGI’s “internal business restructuring to expand the beauty pageant platform”, the report states. “This investment will help business opportunities, expand the customer base, and strengthen the brand internationally… Moreover, it will create added value for the company, which is expected to positively impact financial performance and shareholder returns in the long term.”
The 180 million baht rights fee will be paid by MGI, 30 million baht from the company’s working capital, and a loan of 150 million baht from Nawat without any collateral.
