Miss Universe Thailand wows the world in unique “tuk-tuk” inspired gown

Miss Universe Thailand Aniporn “Nat” Chalermburanawong wowed the audience as she staged her unique “tuk-tuk” inspired national costume at the Miss Universe pageant at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, on Sunday, December 20 (Monday, December 21 in Bangkok).

The Asian beauty took home the Best National Costume award and advanced to the last 10 of the pageant’s finalists. She was eliminated at the selection for the Top 5.

The 21-year old beauty queen who hailed from Lampang attracted praises for her unique costume which resembles a tuk-tuk, a threewheeler motortaxi famous among tourists in Thailand.

It is also a common form of urban transport, both as a vehicle for hire and for private use, in many countries around the world, especially those with tropical or subtropical climates.

The winning design, Tuk-tuk Thailand, was chosen from 356 entries and was created by Hirankrit Pattaraboriboonkul, 35, an official at the Culture Ministry.
