New Year’s Message from the Philippine Consulate Chiangmai

Maligayang Pasko at Masayang Bagong Taon sa lahat!

Under the process of reformation, the Kingdom of Thailand has gone on many rapid changes in the year 2016. The government is undoubtedly making efforts to narrowing the economic gaps between the different classes of people while also cleaning up security problems that have been piled up over the past regimes. It is very important that foreign residents should understand, follow and adapt to what are happenings as opportunities are rising up for those who have good visions and are willing to work hard.

One of the interesting opportunities is the “Start Up” concept launched by the government which aims to promote and support SMEs. In northern Thailand, Chiangmai has been selected as the hub for showcasing “Start Up” activities and so there have been and will be many activities concerning “Start Up” to learn from.

In 2017, we can look forward to see historical heartfelt events such as the royal cremation and the royal coronation. There will also be new laws written to accommodate the new constitution.

Since ASEAN has already been launched, this time of reformation may be the right time for self reformation and to realize that apart from regular works let’s pause a moment and ask ourselves these questions, “What have I contributed to local Filipino community?” and “How I can contribute to local Filipino community?”.

Be a worthy part of your community and may we all have a “Happy New Year 2017”.

Hon. Agkarajit Phanomvan Na Ayudhya
