Originally known as the Mindanao Aguilas, the new team joining the Asean Basketball League (ABL) has changed their official name into Pacquiao Powervit Pilipinas Aguilas after another Philippine team, Racal Motors, backed out just weeks before the opening of the league’s sixth season.
The pull-out of the Racal Motors paved the way for the Pilipinas Aguilas to solely represent the Philippines and thus using ‘Pilipinas’ instead of ‘Mindanao’. Mindanao is the southern part of the Philippine archipelago.
Roster
The new team is composed of young and experienced athletes mainly from Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Boosted by two-time PBA Most Valuable Player Willie Miller and two-time PBA Best Import AZ Reid, this team is definitely set to rule the hoops in the ASEAN level.
