Delegates from the Philippines bested 18 countries at the 5th Asian Open Schools Invitational (AOSI 2025) Swimming Championships held at the Aquatics Center, Assumption University Suvarnabhumi Campus in Bangkok, held last February 6-9, 2025.
Over 1150 athletes from 18 countries competed, where 331 swimmers represented the Philippines.
In a Philippine Embassy in Bangkok post, the Philippine teams bagged 2 top five slots. The National Academy of Sports (NAS) claimed 2nd Runner-up in the overall team rankings, while Lemoda Aqua Gliders from Region 10 Bukidnon placed 3rd Runner-up. NAS also garnered the highest points and dominated the Average Points Category,”highlighting the depth of the talent of Filipino swimmers in the international stage”, the post says.
Present during the opening ceremony is Ambassador to Thailand Millicent Cruz Paredes, Executive Director of the National Academy of Sports in the Philippines Ms. Joy Reyes, together with coaches and the Filipino athletes competing in the championship.
The competition is organized by the Global Aquatics, under the supervision of the Royal Thai Air Force Club, sanctioned by the Thailand Aquatics Association (TAA).
The Ambassador expressed her pride in the Philippine delegation, recognizing their dedication and perseverance in bringing honor to the country through sports. The embassy also commends the Filipino athletes, coaches and organizers for their dedication and commitment to excellence.
