PHL Embassy issues public advisory against cryptocurrency firm

The Philippine Embassy in Thailand has formally released a public advisory regarding a certain Digital Currency Co. Ltd. (DCC), through its official Facebook page, yesterday April 5.

The letter, dated March 26, 2018, “wishes to advise members of the Filipino Community to beware of Digital Currency Co. Ltd., which reportedly claims to be in partnership with the Philippine senate.” The letter then further explains what the said company is doing. It says that DCC is issuing a “virtual currency called ‘Philippine Global Coin (PCG)”.

In an ABS-CBN News report, Senator Koko Pimentel has already sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigations (NBI) to investigate the said “blockchain company”; which targets overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

In the same letter, the embassy has divulged in a Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission investigation that the DCC is “not registered with them”; either as a corporation or partnership.
