President Duterte, Prime Minister Prayuth mark 70 years of diplomatic relations

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha marked 70 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Thailand at the sidelines of the 34th ASEAN Summit held in Bangkok on June 20-23, 2019 exchanging special commemorative stamps jointly issued by the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) and Thailand Post Company Ltd (ThaiPost).

The commemorative stamps featured the Philippine carabao and the Thai elephant, representing not only the strength and perseverance of the peoples of the Philippines and Thailand, but also the enduring ties between the two countries.

The meeting between the two Leaders was held at The Athenee Hotel and attended by Cabinet Ministers and officials from both sides.  ThaiPost Vice President Mr. Wiboon Sereechaiporn was present to witness the event.

It was on June 14, 1949 when the Treaty of Friendship was signed in Washington DC, establishing diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Thailand.
