To personally pay respects to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Philippine President Rody Duterte is set to visit two countries in Southeast Asia namely Malaysia and Thailand in November, said in a newsreport on PTV.
The exact date of the president’s visit has not yet been made public.
Thailand will be Duterte’s second destination after meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak. Among the focus of the president’s meeting with Najib include maritime security, piracy, kidnapping and illegal entry of Malaysians to the country.
A day after the King’s passing, Pres. Duterte paid tribute to King Bhumibol calling him the “guiding hand behind the emergence of Thailand as one of the most progressive countries in the whole of Asia”.
Meanwhile, Filipinos in Thailand have already expressed their excitement on the president’s forthcoming visit.
