Thailand’s Meteorological Department lists 59 provinces that may be affected by “summer storms” from April 27 to May 1.
In a The Nation article, Spokesperson for the Flood, Storm and Landslide Disaster Relief Operations Center Jirayu Huangsub has quoted the Meteorological Department’s warning on possible summer storms in 59 provinces. Summer storms may bring thunderstorms, strong wings, hail and even a possibility of lightning.
Accordingly, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has been instructed to closely monitor the situation and prepare rapid response teams and necessary equipments along high-risk areas to assist immediately during emergency instances, said Jirayu,
“I urge residents in the 59 affected provinces to stay updated on weather reports and official announcements. If affected by disasters, they can report incidents and request assistance through the 1784 emergency hotline, available 24/7”, Jirayu added.
The 59 provinces affected are as follows:
15 Provinces in the Northern Region: Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Phrae, Nan, Phayao, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun.
17 Provinces in the Northeastern Region: Loei, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Panom, Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani.
17 Provinces along the Central Region: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Lop Buri, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayyuthaya, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, and Bangkok.
8 Provinces in the Eastern Region: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chantaburi, and Trat, and
2 Provinces in the Southern Region: Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.
