A Sunday morning Cebu Pacific flight, which was enroute to Tawi-Tawi, was forced to return to Zamboanga International Airport due to an “aircraft technical issue”, as reported by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
In a GMA News Online article, flight 5J 4965, was scheduled to leave Zamboanga at 11:35AM and was scheduled to arrive in Tawi-Tawi at 12:30PM on Sunday, June 29. It was carrying 157 passengers.
The CAAP confirms that a Cebu Pacific flight bound for Tawi-Tawi was able to safely return to Zamboanga International Airport due to a technical issue. A recovery flight with a changed aircraft has been scheduled with an estimated departure time of 3:00PM. No further details were not immediately available.
Meals and assistance were also offered by the affected airline while waiting for the recovery flight which actually left at 4:09PM using an upgraded A320neo aircraft.
