Thai government reports declining COVID19 cases; public still urged to be vigilant

As news spread of the reemergence of COVID 19 virus in Thailand, the national government has now reported of the steady decline of cases.

In a The Nation report, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office Sasikarn Wattanachan announced on Sunday, May 11, that the COVID19 situation in Thailand has shown a downward trend, based on the Ministry of Public Health.

From May 4-10, 2025, Thailand recorded 12,543 new COVID19 cases, a decrease from 14,349 cases the previous week.

From January 1 to May 8, 2025, there were 41,197 cumulative cases and 15 deaths, still a significant improvement compared to the same period in 2024.

Sasikarn emphasized, however, that COVID19 has now become an endemic disease, which means cases may occur throughout the year. Such cases may rise during the rainy season and with academic school years; situations where people gather more frequently.
