Thai government is keeping an eye for non-degree courses at colleges to prevent abuse from visitors and eventually using degrees to work in Thailand illegally.
In a Bangkok Post article, Deputy Government Spokesperson Karom Phonphongklang said on Sunday that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation had issued new regulations that took effect May 14.
The ministry requires non-degree course organizers to have “relevant expertise, content and lecturers, and they must be able to clearly present learning outcomes”.
These courses must not exceed 180 days and 60% of them should be taught onsite. Organizers must inform the ministry of details about the numbers of qualifications of their foreign students, students’ attendance and the location of their schools. In addition, these organizers must report the learning progress of their students on a monthly basis.
Non compliance of the new regulation will render their non-degree courses void.
