With boosting the tourism industry and Thailand economy in mind, Thai tourism authority had approved the temporary extension of stays for both visa on arrival and visa exemption for foreign tourists.
Government Spokesperson Traisulee Traisornkul announced the extension of stays which will take effect next month. From October 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023, foreign tourists coming in to Thailand can stay longer depending on which country their passports come from:
- Visas On Arrival are extended from 15 days to 30 days. Check it here if your country is eligible for visa on arrival in Thailand.
- Visa Exemption stays are extended from 30 to 45 days. Check it here if your country has a bilateral agreement with Thailand for visa exemption for tourists. Filipino tourists in Thailand are in this category.
This means that Filipino tourists in Thailand can stay up to 45 days, 15 days more than the usual maximum of 30 days. This is a temporary measure which will last until March next year.
The government believes that the more foreign tourists reasonably stay in kingdom the more it can generate tourism economy. If each tourist spends 4000 – 5000 baht per day on average, they will pump an extra 20,000 baht into the economy than they normally would, says the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
Thailand’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration agreed to the extension of visa on arrival and visa exemptions at their meeting with the Thai government, said the spokesperson.
