After years of waiting, 20-year old Ryan Meringuez has had his scoliosis surgery on Tuesday, July 16. Ryan is now recuperating at Bangkok Christian Hospital with his family, friends and people who helped the operation possible. It has not been an easy path for this musically gifted young man who just finished Grade 12, and help is still needed to completely settle all his hospital expenses.

Please let me introduce myself. My name is Maurice Meringuez, an OFW here in Thailand. I would like to appeal to you for financial help for my son Don Ryan Meringuez who underwent scoliosis surgery on July 16, 2019. The estimated cost is 450,000.00 baht. Born with heart disease, Ryan was born on June 6, 1999 in Ozamis City, Philippines. He was born with a heart defect called “ventral septal defect”. At two years old, he developed scoliosis but was told by his doctor to take care of his heart defect first. He has been living in Thailand since he was four and had his heart surgery at Chulalongkorn Hospital in 2012.
Despite his various illnesses, Ryan tried living his life normally as other kids his age would do. He can play a number of musical instruments such as piano, guitar, violin and trumpet. He is also currently a part of “Regal Heir String Ensemble” (founded in 2008) along with other musically talented Filipino kids and “Sunrise String Orchestra”, a Thai orchestra where he is one of the only four Filipino members. Over the years, he would use his talent in helping more needy individuals by playing musical instruments.
In 2017, his Thai doctor advised his family for an immediate operation as his scoliosis was progressing rapidly. So a number of concerts and fund raising activities were also held to raise funds for his scoliosis operation which costs a minimum of 450,000 baht. Due to insufficient money, the operation had been delayed for almost two years.
Ryan is still in the hospital recuperating while his family is fervently looking for money for the hospital bill and other post operation expenses. Any amount you can give will be of big help to this family. You may deposit your monetary help to the account number below.
