Three house shops were burned down in Pattaya’s Walking Street, Chonburi, last Wednesday, March 15, 7:30am, as a transformer exploded and flared up the establishments. No casualties were reported.
A mob of firemen and firetrucks were dispatched to the burning location fronting Rock Street shop in downtown Pattaya, said the police. The shops quickly burned down while firefighters took 30 minutes to bring the situation under control.
According to eye-witness account of Somparn Rattanasaeng, a housekeeper of one of the shops, they were already closed the time the transformer exploded. While cleaning inside the shop, she heard a large explosion prompting her to check it out, only to find out the transformer burning. She ran to safety and called the firefighters, who arrived shortly.
The cause of the explosion is yet to be determined and the damage caused by the fire is still unknown.
