President Duterte safely lands in Bangkok

President Duterte, together with his entourage, safely landed last night at the Royal Thai Air Force Military Air Terminal 2, March 20, 10:47pm local time. This is part of the president’s “introductory visit” since he took office last year. The president came from Myanmar for a 2-day visit. He was received by Philippine Ambassador to Thailand, Her Excellency Mary Jo Bernardo-Aragon, and Royal Thai Government Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.

The president and his delegation will be in Thailand for a 3-day official visit to meet Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha, major Thai business groups and members of the Filipino Community. No word has been out if the President will meet new King Vajiralongkorn.

The president’s schedule today starts later this afternoon as he is expected to witness the signing of key agreements in the field of science, agriculture and tourism. President Duterte will also hold a bilateral meeting  with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha  both will discuss concerns on politics, agriculture, energy, education, economy and defense cooperation.

Meanwhile, The Filipino community members are all ready and enthused to finally meet the president. Some groups even made custom shirts prepared for this event. According to the Filipino Embassy here in Thailand, the venue’s 2000-seating capacity has been maxed out, and some Filipinos, are still trying their luck to register for the event.
