An 83-year old man was arrested for raping a 4-year old girl in the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Tuesday, February 13, in Muang district.
Officers arrested Sonthi Chaorenjit at his house in Khlang for allegedly raping the 4-year old girl on February 2. Sonthi confessed to the said crime. He is a relative of the new husband of the girl’s grandmother.
Earlier, the girl’s grandmother told police that early of February 2, Sonthi offered to watcher over the said victim for her. She initially rejected the said offer because the girl was sick at that time. However, Sonthi insisted and told her that he would be the one to buy the medicines for the girl. The grandmother then allowed Sonthi to bring the girl, believing he was already an elderly man. In the evening, Sonthi brought back the girl and immediately left.
“The girl kept crying when reaching home and complained about pain in her sex organ. She kept her legs close. When I checked her out, I saw her sex organ was swollen and torn… A doctor later said she was sexually abused and she was admitted at a hospital for a week-long of treatment,” said the grandmother.
The 4-year old girl’s family has filed a complaint with local police on February 6. Police then gathered evidences and successfully garnered a warrant from the Nakhon Si Thammarat provincial court.
