Four Thai Professors were conferred the prestigious 2019 Bernd Rode Award in two different categories (Junior and Senior Researchers) for their respective research collaborations. They were:
Apinun Kanpiengjai, Ph.D. Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University. Project Title: “Purification and Properties of Tannase from Sporidiobolusruineniae, a Tannin-Tolerant Yeast Isolated from Fermented Foods of Northern Thailand“
Pongtip Sithisarn, PhD.
Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, Bangkok Project Title: “LC-MS of extracts from medicinal plants“
Asst. Prof. Dr. Anchalee Samphao
Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Ubon Ratchathani University Project Title: “Development of a disposable electrochemical biosensor for detection of cancer biomarker“ (in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Kurt Kalcher,Institute for Analytical Chemistry, University of Graz -Austria)
Chompoonuh K. Permponwiat
Srinakharinwirot University Project Title: “Workplaces as Learning Spaces” (in collaboration with
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Annette Ostendorf, Institute for Organisation and Learning, University of Innsbruck -Austria)
The two Filipino professors conferred of the award were:
Manuel Joseph C. Loquias, Dr. math Institute of Mathematics, University of the Philippines Diliman Project Title: “Nonmonic number systems in finite fields”
Weena Gera, PhD
College of Social Sciences, University of the Philippines Cebu
Project Title: “Examining the coherence of legal frameworks for ecosystem services toward sustainable mineral development in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)”
According to the ASEAN-European Academic University Network website:
“The Bernd Rode Award is granted to outstanding scientific and higher education collaborations between European and South-East-Asian universities in the framework of ASEA-UNINET. The award is given every 18 months in three different categories.
The award is named after Bernd Michael Rode, an eminent Austrian researcher and founder of the Austrian-South-East-Asian Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET).”
