Update: Body of 1 missing Pinoy found in Phuket

The body found on a beach in Phuket on Friday, July 19, has been confirmed to be one of the two missing Filipinos, Bangkok Post reports.

Consul General Val Simon Roque of the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok together with the family of Noah Ibay II, arrived at Phuket City Hall on Saturday to identify and take the body. The group was greeted by Phuket governor Pakkapong Tawipat, the report added.

Ibay, 39,  was one of the Filipinos who went missing on Wednesday, July 17. He died of asphyxia from drowning on Freedom Beach in tambon Karon, Muang district, according to the death certificate issued by Patong Hospital.

Noah “Twitt” Ibay II, one of the two Filipino tourists who went missing on a beach in Phuket, Thailand, was found lifeless in Freedom Beach on Friday, July 19.

The other missing Filipino is Angelo Cortez, 29. The search for him is ongoing, helped by the photos his parents sent to authorities.

The search area has been expanded and is now a joint operation of authorities from various agencies  and rescue workers.
