Thailand’s weather to remain cool until Monday

Thailand will remain cool at least until Monday, with temperatures plunging further in the North and Northeast as a strong high pressure system from China is blanketing the Kingdom, Bangkok Post reported.

The Meteorological Department issued on Thursday forecast that cold weather would continue through Monday, with the mercury dropping by 6-8 degrees Celsius in the upper part of the country.

Temperatures in Greater Bangkok will be in the region of 13C and 18C during the period, while strong winds will prevail in the southern region, particularly Chumphon and Surat Thani provinces, the weather bureau said.

Another report on Khaosod advised Bangkokians to cuddle up and brace for lows of 16C to 17C, with highs at a mild 29C. Even colder weather is felt in the Northern provinces, with a low of 9C and highs of 29C. The country’s highest Doi Inthanon’s mountain top recorded a drop to 2C Friday morning, while the lowest on-ground temperatures nationwide were in 7.8C for Loei province. Isaan should see lows drop to 6C and highs of 27 through the weekend.
