Philippine Ambassador to Thailand and Permanent Representative of the Philippines to United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Millicent Cruz Paredes began her chairmanship of the series of informal consultations among the ESCAP Member States on the review of ESCAP’s conference structure on November 9, 2021.
The first meeting was held in virtual format, with only the Ambassador and Mr. Lorenzo Santucci, Secretary of the Commission, in attendance at the UN Conference Center.
Ambassador Paredes accepted the invitation of the ESCAP Secretariat to chair the informal consultation process on the periodic review of the ESCAP conference structure, which was mandated by the regional commission in 2017.
The informal consultation series will take place between November 2021 and the first quarter of 2022. The results of the review process will be presented during the 78th Commission Session due to be held in Bangkok on May 23-27, 2022.
