One of Bangkok’s tallest towers will be getting a facelift; a demolition rather.
The 47-year old Dusit Thani Hotel will be demolished and replaced with a multipurpose complex complete with hotel amenities, office space for lease, shopping mall and a green space. This is a 36-billion baht project together with Central Pattana, owner of 30 malls nationwide under the Central Group of Companies.
Yet still, Dusit Thani operations is still a go until June of 2018. The luxury hotel also addressed concerns about its hotel staff emphasizing that no single employee will be laid off and will still continue to run the hotel business together with its other development projects.
Dusit Thani Bangkok first opened its doors in 1970, which was once the tallest hotel with 23 floors but was then overtaken by the 29-floor Chokchai Tower in 1978. The hotel features elegant Thai designs mixed with a contemporary look, which will still be implemented in the new hotel building.
