AFT-Southern Thailand to receive registrants during embassy’s consular outreach

In line with the Philippine Embassy’s consular outreach program in Phuket on March 29-31, the officers and members of the Association of Filipinos in Thailand (AFT) – Southern Region Chapter will simultaneously have their induction of officers on the 29th,  by Ambassador Mary Jo A. Bernardo-Aragon, and they will also receive registrants for the organization.

Speaking over the phone with Ms. Maria Veleddie Foz, President of AFT-Southern Region, the organization’s registration process is for every Filipino living in the area, regardless of religious affinity, political affiliation or personal background, all are welcome. AFT-Southern Region is a non-profit organization, and is recognized  by the Philippine Embassy in Thailand.

In a Facebook post through its official page dated March 18, it can be seen that the officers and volunteers met some Filipino fishermen in the area who have also registered themselves to the organization. “It was nice to meet all the Filipinos here in Phuket especially the fishermen. Thank you for supporting AFT 2018. Maraming salamat po sa mainit na pagtanggap sa amin. Mabuhay po kayo!” The post then was accompanied by photos of the said registration and a shared  meal together with other Filipino expats.

Foz mentioned that the active and rising number of registrants pushes them more to reach the far flung areas. “Every single Filipino counts”, she said, conveying a thirst to have every Filipino registered in the organization. She also mentioned that being a registered member has its perks. For one, visa issues or documentation or whatever consular issues may easily be attended since the org is recognized by the embassy, thus, making consultation and communication easier. Second, concerns and issues of Filipinos will also be addressed appropriately. Personal concerns may be directed to the org so that they may be able to render service to distressed Filipinos.
