Award-winning Filipino tenor to conduct musical workshop at PHL Embassy

One of the Philippines’ award-winning tenors and former Dean of the University of the Philippines College of Music will conduct a Musical Workshop for the Filipino Community on Thursday, June 14 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Philippine Embassy Conference Room.  

Professor Dr. Ramon Acoymo will conduct the workshop which is entitled “Classical-Popular Genre Contrasts”. Among Prof. Acoymo’s long list of achievements in music include the following:

  • First Prize in the National Association of Teachers Singing Competition in the United States   
  • Most Outstanding Classical Male Singer from the Philippine ALIW FOUNDATION
  • Hall of Fame Awardee and Most Outstanding Classical Musician  from the University of the Philippines (UP) Chancellor

Acoymo made chilling performances at the 120th Independence Day reception hosted by the Philippine Embassy on June 12 at Shangri-La Hotel. He was also the first magna cum laude Voice graduate of the University of the Philippine College of Music.

The workshop is free. Filipino merienda will also be served.
